Form and function

Made for your tea table

The Half Moon teapot has a low, gently curved body, a defined pouring spout and a substantial loop handle. Its close-fitting lid is crowned by a sculpted dragon, while the surrounding relief work gives the surface texture and visual depth during a tea session.

Half Moon is a descriptive Yixing form name referring to a compact, rounded profile rather than a single documented historical model. Like other zisha teapots, it is used at the gongfu table for repeated short infusions, with the lid helping retain heat between pours.

Yixing, Jiangsu, is recognised for zisha ware, and this yellow clay shows a warm, granular brown colour beneath the unglazed carved decoration. Rinse the pot after brewing and allow it to dry open, without storing tea leaves inside.
