A closer look

Tea cup has a rounded, upright body, gently softened rim and raised foot, keeping the hot vessel comfortable to hold and slightly lifted from the table. Its pale interior and open shape suit gongfu tea, matcha gatherings or an unhurried everyday brew.

Tea cups in Chinese gongfu tradition are used for small servings, allowing the drinker to notice aroma, colour and texture across repeated infusions. This Shino glaze style originated in Japan during the Momoyama period and is recognised for soft opacity and expressive firing variation.

Made in China in a wood-fired Shino style, the creamy glaze shows fine crackle, amber pooling and warm exposed clay around the foot. Rinse gently with warm water after use, dry fully, and store it where the rim is protected.
