The tea
A rice-grain zhurenbei, or host’s cup, has a gently widening rim, a stable foot, and a clean white body. The openwork dragon design catches the light, while the rounded profile sits naturally in the hand during a gongfu tea tasting.
Rice-grain porcelain, known as linglong, is a historic Chinese decorative technique associated especially with Jingdezhen. Small openings in the porcelain form part of the decoration, and individual cups are traditionally used at the table for drinking and appreciating tea.
Made in China in the Jingdezhen porcelain tradition, this cup pairs a white ground with a golden dragon, red borders, and waves around the base. Rinse it after use and dry the decorated surface before storage.
